Our approach to adding value to project controls within organisations is based on:
Take a look at some examples of our work!
End goal: To integrate the planning team, who are all disparately located throughout the organisation, into the central project controls function. Understand the current capabilities of the planning functions and provide a plan to ensure that the function meets the needs of the organisation.
The approach: Conducted a review of the current tools, systems, processes and procedures for planning to determine what the current practices are and how consistently they are applied. Held individual sessions with planners to understand their experiences, skill sets and aspirations. Participated in governance reviews to determine how the planning team can best support successful project delivery.
The result: Development, implementation and completion of an improvements plan for the planning team. This was delivered by all of the planning team for collective ownership of their discipline and how it fits into the wider project controls function. Alongside the improvements plan, a career competency framework was developed to support the continued growth and development of the team. As a direct result of the transformation, the retention rate of the project controls team was 95%.
End goal: Delivery of ECITB Certificate in Project Controls on behalf of an approved training provider.
The approach: Supplement standard training and assessment materials with hands on industry related experience to bring the knowledge and skills to life for the learners.
The result: Over the past 16 months, 27 delegates have completed the ECITB Certificate in project controls (all of which secured merits or distinctions).
End goal: Coach and mentor a newly promoted planning manager to be competent in managing the planning team for a tier 2 contractor.
The approach: Conducted an initial gap analysis on the current function and what would be required to enable them to effectively support project delivery. This was used as a framework to coach and mentor the planning manager around each area to enable him to drive the change and management of the team.
The result: Within an initial 3 month period, the planning manager had all the necessary frameworks, processes and procedures in place to manage the team.
End goal: Develop a suite of materials to be used for ACOSTE end point assessment for planning and risk.
The approach: Review the apprenticeships standards, learning objectives and the required knowledge, skills and behaviours. Apply a real life case scenario to be able to assess the candidate against the knowledge, skills and behaviours. Test the materials on assessors for suitability for level 3.
The result: Suite of materials approved for use by the ECITB. To date, 22no apprentices have completed the end point assessment using the materials.
